The Suns Rock

Published on October 26, 2005

The first show at the Espy with The Basics went very well on Monday night – great bands, cool crowd, some loser DJ… there were some technical hiccups but eventually the tunes were forthcoming and the only hiccups were those of an alcohol-induced variety. The Basics were, as always, great fun, but The Suns.. man have got to be the greatest rock-reggae band ever to be banned in south-east Asia. There were sparklers and party-poppers, although the highlight was really just the songs. Great songs. There’s so many rock bands out there playing pubs writing and playing shitty songs.

The Espy is going to be packed next Monday night because its Cup Eve. I’m going to be playing tunes from 8pm until 3AM (!) – interrupted occasionally by upstart rock bands – so yeah, woah.

And now, an mp3 to start the proceedings off – after my empassioned manifesto re: mp3 blogs I kind of clammed up and couldn’t decide what to post. So here’s something in honor of The Suns (kind of) – a Thai Elvis impersonator singing “All Shook Up”. OK, so Thailand isn’t Singapore, but they are kind of close… so that makes them the same, like Australia and New Zealand.. or something:
