- ‘the old grey whistle test’ was this cool (well, perhaps alternately cool and daggy, or just mostly daggy, although only daggy in hindsight maybe)… bbc live music show that was on in the 70s and 80s. a friend of mine leant me these dvds that had all these great old performances from the show over the decades it aired: u2, the specials, blondie, sex pistols etc etc. but nothing topped edgar winter. i found it on youtube for your viewing pleasure: http://youtube.com/watch?v=8XLZ0f9XIDE
- out hud have disbanded. i was a huge huge fan of both of their albums but i never actually got the chance to see them live. the widely assumed reason for the breakup seems to be that the band shares so many members with !!! who are apparently more successful, despite being slightly less good. strangely enough, !!! played last night at the carling academy in islington, which is just down the road from where i’m living at the moment. if i’d known i would have gone down there and thrown things at them. or at least just cried at them. take my tears you sweaty funksters! at least now that out hud have broken up that leaves room for me to form an electro-indie-funk act and capitalise on the now lost, devastated out hud market… i have dibs on the bass
