aleks and the ramps – new single

melbourne’s maverick banjo glock pop collective aleks and the ramps are releasing their limited edition homemade single this friday night at the rob roy. and when i say ‘limited edition’ i mean limited edition – they are only making 100 of these suckers and they are hand-stitched and home-loved.

the single is the opening salvo of the ramps attack on 2007, which will continue with the release of a debut album in march. the single also happens to contain a remix by yours truly, i’ve taken a track from their upcoming album and given it some rough faux pas love. drums are a-tumbling and vocals are ping-ponging up the kaboose. i’ll have an mp3 of the remix up for your pleasure soon, but in the meantime you’d best clear your friday night schedule so you can head down to the rob roy and snap up one of these singles before everyone else does. or – join the faux pas mailing list and watch your inbox like a hawk, i might do a giveaway or something.

February 2010

/// The second Faux Pas full-length is called Noiseworks and will be released in April 2010. Its a joint release between Sensory Projects and Heroics.

/// See the awesome cover art (courtesy of New York artist Tomokazu Matsuyama) here.

/// The new record features extended versions of singles “Chasing Waterfalls” and “Silver Line” – the single edits however, are still available for free download.

/// Also, you can listen to four remixes of Silver Line (courtesy of Kharkov, Kane Ikin, Loopsnake and myself) here.

/// Lastly – I’ve started posting a demo or spontaneous jam once a week on my Facebook page. It has been going for a few weeks. Be warned: results may vary. Check it out – you don’t need to be a Facebook member to listen/download them.
